Daily Dose of Blackness

 Daily Dose of Blackness

Black School’d is a project designed with the goal of eroding the foundation of anti-Black racism in the BC school system. Based in inter-community collaboration and Black-youth leadership, Black School’d offers workshops, presentations, and other alternative services that address the structural inequalities and anti-Black racism in BC educational settings. By acknowledging the diversity, complexity and intersectionality of Blackness, Black School’d approaches curriculum development and EDI through a multi-voiced, youth-led framework.

Daily Dose of Blackness came together in 2019 at our high school to discuss issues of anti-Black racism and build solidarity. We formed a Solid State co-operative soon after and we are building a three-part media project: a Podcast, a Youtube Channel and a website/online magazine. From guest editing a Friday edition of The Star, to being featured on the CBC radio program Now or Never, we want to share our stories, about and to talk to Black youth. All too often Black youth feel isolated and marginalized in BC and the Daily Dose of Blackness is designed to centre and celebrate Black youth, our experiences, our joys and our struggles.`
