We are climate recentered; a movement of BIPOC youth from so-called “Surrey.”

Our goals are to reshape the white narrative of climate organizing while creating a community of care built around mutual aid as we bring marginalized and racialized peoples to the forefront of climate discussions.

We aim to uplift community organizing to centre joy over shame and build a better world for all with communities of Colour leading the charge.

Our main goals are to reshape the white narrative of climate organizing, create a community of care built around mutual aid, and to bring marginalized and racialized populations to the forefront of climate discussions. We aim to uplift community organizing to center joy over shame and build a better world for all with communities of colour leading the charge. We plan to hold workshops surrounding climate grief, climate justice, and actions people can do, bringing a safe place where BIPOC youth can organize.

Our values are to apply an equity and justice lens for all of our decisions. We recognize we have privilege as settlers on stolen land and seek to and uplift and empower Indigenous voices. We seek to dismantle and eradicate all forms of white supremacy, hierarchy, and power dynamics from our group. Climate Recentered is made up of four youth members, who all had climate organizing experiences. As people of colour in the climate movement, we have been tokenized, received microaggressions and elitism in predominantly white organizations. Climate Recentered is built to recenter the voices in the climate movement to BIPOC folks and to bring educational resources accessible.
